Deputy Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said that Ukraine is not ready for serious negotiations on settling the conflict, and that the conditions it is offering are “ridiculous”.

Speaking to The Dive, Polyansky said, “As for the peace negotiations, Ukraine has not shown any evidence of a responsible attitude. They have some demands that cannot be put on the table in serious negotiations.”

“That is why we are not there yet. Ukraine is only making political statements that it is ready for negotiations with Russia. But they are ready to conduct negotiations if Russia withdraws its forces, even from Donbass and Crimea, which is considered absurd,” he added.

He concluded: “Therefore we do not have a realistic partner, and therefore the special military operation continues.”
