The head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, confirmed in a communication with the Egyptian intelligence leadership that what happened in the Gaza Strip “is the responsibility of the Israeli occupation alone.”
A Hamas statement said that Haniyeh stressed, during the call, “the necessity of stopping the shelling targeting the Gaza Strip.”
On the other hand, Haniyeh discussed with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani the Israeli attack on Gaza.
Haniyeh said during the call, according to a statement issued by Hamas: “The crimes against our people in Gaza are an expression of the aggressive intentions of the occupation under false pretexts.”
And he called for the need to “completely stop the aggression and lift the sinful hand from the Gaza Strip.”
Israel has launched an attack on Gaza, since Friday evening, killing 10 Palestinians, including a girl and a woman, and wounding 79 others, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
Earlier, Islamic Jihad spokesman Daoud Shehab announced that Israel had assassinated Tayseer al-Jabari, a prominent leader in Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the movement.
On the other hand, Al-Quds Brigades announced that more than 100 missiles were fired at Israeli cities and towns, including Tel Aviv.
